Know the Price Before We Lift a Wrench

Veteran-owned, EPA-certified HVAC and plumbing service with upfront pricing — because the final bill should never be a surprise.

What "True Transparency Pricing" Actually Means

Most HVAC companies say they offer upfront pricing. We built a named program around it because the words alone aren't enough — the process has to back them up.

Here's how it works at Barbour Heating & Air:

We diagnose the problem and assess the job before quoting.

You receive a clear, itemized price before any work begins.

You approve the price — or you don't. That's your call, not ours.

The number you approve is the number on your invoice. No additions, no surprises.

We don't start a job until you've seen the price and said yes. That's not a policy we mention in the fine print — it's how every call runs.

No Overtime Fees. Nights, Weekends, Holidays — Same Rate.

Furnaces don't break on a Tuesday at 2 p.m. We know that. So we don't charge extra because your emergency landed on a Friday night or a holiday weekend.

Our flat-rate pricing holds regardless of when you call. The time on the clock doesn't change what you pay.

Honest Answers on What Things Typically Cost

We won't quote a specific price without seeing your system — any contractor who does is guessing. But we can give you honest ranges so you're not walking in blind.

Diagnostic / Service Call Fee

We charge a diagnostic fee to come out and assess the problem. That fee is applied toward the cost of the repair if you move forward with us. You'll know the fee before we arrive

Repair Cost Ranges

Repair costs vary based on the system, the part, and the scope of the work. Minor repairs — a capacitor, a thermostat, a pressure switch — typically run less than a few hundred dollars. Major component replacements can run higher. We'll tell you exactly where your job lands before we start.

Repair vs. Replace

When a repair is close in cost to a replacement, we'll tell you that directly. We'll present both options with honest numbers and let you decide. We don't push replacements to pad a ticket.

New System Installation

New HVAC equipment is a significant investment. Installed costs vary by system type, home size, and equipment tier. We provide free estimates on installations — and we offer financing for homeowners who want to spread the cost over time.

Financing Available When the Job Is a Big One

Some repairs and most installations represent real money. We work with four financing partners so that an honest price is also an accessible one.

  • Breeze — fast online application, competitive rates
  • GoodLeap — flexible terms for larger projects
  • Michigan Saves — Michigan's green bank, offering low-interest financing for energy-efficient upgrades
  • GreenSky — straightforward payment plans with no prepayment penalties

Financing doesn't change how we price the job. The quote you approve is the quote — we just give you options for how to pay it.

Common Pricing Questions, Answered Straight

  • Do you charge a fee just to come out and look at my system?

Yes — we charge a diagnostic fee for service calls. That fee is applied toward your repair if you proceed with us. You'll know the fee amount before we schedule.

  • Will the final bill match the quote you give me?

Yes. We present the price before any work begins, and you approve it before we start. The approved price is what you pay — no additions after the fact.

  • Do you charge extra for evening or weekend calls?

No. Our pricing doesn't change based on the time of day or day of the week. Nights, weekends, and holidays are billed at the same rate as any other call.

  • How much does HVAC service cost in mid-Michigan?

It depends on the system and the scope of work. Minor repairs typically run a few hundred dollars. Major repairs and new system installations cost more — and we'll give you a specific number before we start. Free estimates are available for all new equipment installs.

  • Is there pressure to approve the most expensive option?

No. We present your options with honest pricing and let you decide. Our job is to give you the information — the decision is yours.

  • Do you work with financing for larger jobs?

Yes. We're authorized through Breeze, GoodLeap, Michigan Saves, and GreenSky. If the cost of a repair or new system is a concern, ask us about financing when we're on-site or before you schedule.
